PHD Electrical Contractors is committed to taking all reasonable and practicable steps to aid and promote; healthy and safe working conditions for its employees and contractors, and to ensure the health and safety of other persons who visit its premises or may otherwise be affected by its activities, environmental sustainability in all aspects of its business, and mutual success of PHD and its stakeholders. The management of health, safety, quality and environment is an integral part of this. We expect all stakeholders to recognise these responsibilities and exhibit this through their approach and attitude at work. To support and enforce this policy, we will also:

• Meet applicable occupational health and safety, environmental, legal and other requirements such as ISO 45001:2018, BS EN ISO 14001:2015 and BS EN ISO 9001:2015
• Provide systematic devolution of responsibility for HSQE to appropriate levels and individuals within the organisation
• Encourage continuous improvement in HSQE performance and management systems through performance monitoring and objective setting
• Systematically identify hazards and adequately assess, eliminate or control risks to which employees and others may be exposed
• Take all reasonable steps to prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health
• Identify environmental risks and ensure all practicable measures are in place to reduce the risk and prevent pollution
• Identify and meet the requirements and expectations of its customers
• Develop and maintain a positive HSQE culture through communication and consultation with employees
• Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment
• Ensure safe handling and use of substances used at work
• Provide information, instruction, supervision and training as part of ensuring competence and developing employees as a key resource

Implementation of this policy is a line management responsibility requiring commitment from all stakeholders. Specific arrangements and organisational responsibilities will be detailed in the Management System. Adherence to this policy and associated procedures is a condition of employment for all staff and a condition of engagement for sub-contractors.

The ultimate responsibility for health and safety lies with the Directors who ensure that it is given and retains the highest of priorities. This policy and its implementation will be reviewed at least annually and updated as required.
